Prayer Changes Things

1 Peter 1:15-16

King James Version (KJV)

15   But as he which has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conversation  16  Because it is written, Be you holy; for I am holy.

When we call ourselves children of God, we should take on all of the attributes of God, like His faithfulness, His patience, His temperance, His kindness and most of all His holiness.  This means we will live according to each attribute.  These attributes keep us on the road to following God. We should not look to the left or to the right to check to see that we are heading in the right direction, we should know by the way we are living and the good that we are doing for God's people. Sharing His word, preaching and teaching His word and showing His children how to live in the will of God.

Being Holy. The meaning here is that the model or example in accordance with which we are to frame our lives, should be the character of God who had called us into His kingdom. We are to be like him.  Since God is holy, and we profess to be his followers, we also ought to be holy. Christianity has an infinite advantage over heathenism. God is holy, and he calls upon all who believe in him to imitate his holiness; and the reason why we should be holy is, that God who has called us is holy.
